Blackfish - Trailer
Beyond the lies, beneath the deception, the truth will surface.
Magnolia Pictures has debuted the trailer for the chilling Sundance documentary Blackfish, directed Gabriela Cowperthwaite, about orcas in captivity.
OKAY, WE NEED TO REBLOG THE FUCK OUT OF THIS. EVEN IF YOU’RE NOT AN ANIMAL PERSON, YOUR FOLLOWERS NEED TO SEE THIS. ESPECIALLY DURING THE HEIGHT OF VACATION SEASON. DO NOT SUPPORT SEA PARKS WITH CAPTIVE WHALES. IT’S NOT ENVIRONMENTAL PROPAGANDA (I can’t believe I even used those words) IT’S A REAL ISSUE AND IT’S NOT A MATTER OF PROOF, IT’S A MATTER OF COVERING IT UP AND IGNORING IT!
Seriously finally a movie that focuses on how absolutely fucked up sea world and sea parks are
Yet another reason to never support anything that uses animals for entertainment purposes. Animals were never meant to be used for entertainment value, this is what you get when you fuck with nature.
I’ve been to the Seaworld in Australia but after watching this I am so disgusted to have ever paid money to go to ANY animal park where they have taken animals from their natural habitat for our entertainment! I’ve never really thought anything of it until I watched this and now I’m ashamed at how oblivious I have been. We go on about how wrong it is that the Japanese are slaughtering whales but what we are doing is no better! We are using them as show ponies. This isn’t just about the whales either, it’s about any creature that has been taken from the wild for our enjoyment. I think it’s great when we take animals from the wild to SAVE them, but only if they are going to be rehabilitated back into the wild afterwards. It’s not natural for animals to be confined to small pools or cages. The last time I was at Seaworld I was watching a penguin in it enclosure. They had a pool that had a huge glass window so you could watch them swim and upstairs they had another viewing spot so you could see then above the water on the ice. They had an Antarctic landscape printed onto the walls to try and make it look realistic as they do with most animal enclosures, they want the animal to feel at home. Anyway, I watched this particular Penguin walk back and forth along the back wall, trying to climb up the fake rocks and get through this wall, he must of been so confused about why he couldn’t go any further because from what he could see, there was so much more open space. It was horrible to watch. Animals aren’t meant for captivity and I can’t believe it has taken this long for me to realize how bad it has really gotten.
